You’re physically living in today, but your mind is already three weeks ahead. What if this happens? What if that doesn’t work? What if there isn’t enough? Tomorrow hasn’t even arrived, and you’re already carrying its weight.
Valarie is quick to say that planning is wise. But when planning turns into worry, we end up living through situations that haven’t happened yet. Jesus brings our attention back to today: today’s grace, today’s strength, and today’s responsibilities. It’s okay to pray simply, “Father, give me what I need for today.” You can plan for tomorrow without carrying tomorrow, because God will meet you there when you arrive. Today’s prayer asks Him to keep us from carrying tomorrow before it comes, give us wisdom for today, and bring our racing thoughts back to His presence.
Scripture anchor: Matthew 6:34, “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.”

The next time you catch yourself worrying about tomorrow, ask whether there’s something you need to do today. If not, release it. Today’s grace is for today’s weight.
