You’re ready to leave the past behind, but you’re afraid to take the next step. What if it doesn’t work? What if I make another mistake? What if I get hurt again?
Fear can keep us standing in the space between a season that has ended and one we haven’t yet entered. Valarie points out that often we aren’t afraid of something new. We’re afraid of experiencing something old again. Past pain can make future possibilities feel dangerous. But courage doesn’t require the absence of fear. It just means fear doesn’t get the final vote. We can be honest with God about being afraid and still be willing to follow Him. Today’s prayer asks Him to heal the places where past experiences have shaped our expectations, and to give us courage to move when He says move.
Scripture anchor: Joshua 1:9, “Be strong and courageous… for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

Instead of asking whether you feel fearless, ask, “Can I trust God enough to take one step?” You don’t need courage for the entire journey, just for the next step.
