Sometimes the hardest battle isn’t happening around us — it’s happening in our minds. We replay conversations, imagine worst-case scenarios, and try to solve problems that haven’t even happened yet, and the longer we turn them over, the heavier they get.
In today’s prayer, Valarie names something we don’t often catch: we all pray, but sometimes we’re praying in the negative — and that’s exactly what worry is. She reminds us that as believers we operate on a different plane. Yes, we address what’s in front of us, but we were never meant to let it overtake us until we feel hopeless. God already knows what we’re facing, and He’s always the answer. The trick is getting what’s in our head onto the throne and replacing racing thoughts with something positive — His Word. Anchored in Philippians 4:6-7 — “do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God” — she reminds us that God never intended worry to be a constant companion. In this life we’ll have trouble, but He has overcome it, and greater is He who is in us than he who is in the world. She prays for the Lord to quiet the thoughts that steal our peace, help us trust He’s already working in what we can’t control, and teach us to respond with faith instead of fear. Her closing charge is simple: when the next anxious thought comes, don’t rehearse it — pray it.
