You prayed for something new, and now that it’s here, it feels more unfamiliar than exciting. Part of you is afraid you’ll carry old mistakes right into this fresh start.
A new opportunity can bring responsibility. A new relationship can require vulnerability. A new season may call for different habits. Valarie acknowledges that fresh starts can be exciting and uncomfortable at the same time, because we know how to function in the familiar and new beginnings ask us to learn again. We don’t have to enter this season demanding perfection from ourselves. We can enter it dependent on God: teachable, prayerful, and close to Him. Today’s prayer thanks Him for new beginnings and asks Him to keep past mistakes from making us afraid, giving us wisdom to learn, courage to grow, and faith to walk into this season with Him.
Scripture anchor: Lamentations 3:22-23, “His compassions never fail. They are new every morning.”

New doesn’t have to mean ready for everything. Sometimes it simply means, “Father, I’m willing to learn.” Walk into this season teachable, not fearful.
