Part of you keeps asking God to bring something back. The relationship, the opportunity, the plan you were sure would work, or a season that was once good. Moving on can feel like dishonoring what was.
Valarie reminds us that familiar doesn’t always mean fruitful. We hold on to old seasons because we know them, while the next one requires faith because we can’t see it yet. It’s possible to become so focused on what God did then that we miss what He’s doing now. God is always moving, and as His people, we should be moving too, in the right direction. Prayer lets us thank Him for the people, lessons, and experiences of a past season without trying to live there permanently. Sometimes our prayer needs to change from “God, bring it back” to “Father, help me recognize what You’re doing now.” Today’s prayer asks for discernment to recognize when something has ended, courage to move forward without fear, and attentive hearts for what He is doing today.
Scripture anchor: Isaiah 43:18-19, “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing!”
